"COWBOY"

UPDATE...COWBOY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

We have a new horse ready to be adopted. "Cowboy" is a coming 8 year old (according to his teeth) brown tobiano paint, standing 14'2hh. He's thick made, built like a bull dog and has a tail that drags the ground and mane that reaches his shoulders, and is a really easy keeper. He rides better each time we climb on. He was not a starved rescue, but a donated horse. Cowboy had a great home, was well fed, current on all shots, and broke to ride. But, he managed to bully his owners and got them timid of him. When we got him, he had not been ridden in 2 years. After about 15 minutes in the round pen, we climbed on and he rode quiet and gentle, with no buck. We even threw a rope off him and wrapped it around both front feet and back feet as well. Since then we have ridden him at our local 4-H arena, in a pasture through cattle, around barns, down the road, etc. Although at this point he will not spin a hole in the ground, he has tried to do everything we've asked, and is quiet while doing so. He lopes off quiet, turns both ways, stops, backs up, stands tied, and loads and unloads well. We were told they rode him with a hackamore, but we decided to try a bosal on him, and he does fine. We have put a bit in his mouth, but not enough to say he's ready to be ridden with that. Cowboy will an experienced owner as I feel he is smart enough to try and bully someone again. With the proper handling, he has made no mistakes here. He is priced at $900, which is a bargain for a good looking horse that has the knowledge he has. I am continuing to ride him, as well as work with him in the round pen on respect issues. He is going to make someone a fantastic horse. Contact us for adoption information. This horse will make someone a great companion or trail horse, but acts like he'd really like to have a job and will be willing to do anything Please call 940-839-9000 for more info.

"Sam" is a 4 year old, stocking footed paint horse that is a rescue. Sam was skin and bones when found, along with some cuts and scrapes on his legs. The folks in Fort Worth did a great job of getting him in shape and I've recently taken him in to continue their work and get him ready for adoption. They rode him before I got him, but I have only saddled and lunged him. I chose a windy day and he accepted the saddle just fine, with no buck or hump at any gate. He has never boogered, jumped, reared, or fussed at anything we've done. He seems bomb proof on the ground, and has got along with my babies in the pasture just fine. He is easy to catch, halter and deworm. I've put him in the stocks, worked with his cuts and injures using a garden hose and leg wraps, messed with his ears and he's been quiet and accepting of all of it. He's never taken a lame step. He will make a great addition to any home who will love and care for him. Adoption fee is $250. Please contact www.hsnt.org about adopting this horse or others. I will be glad to show him to anyone, and will deliver to the Fort Worth area or any 2 hour radius from me for free. Updated pictures coming weekly (hopefully.)
