This ranch is all continuous and has a good stand of native and improved
grasses. The fences are in good shape, with a five-line barbed wire fence around
the perimeter and one cross fence running down the middle.
The west side is mainly flat and has a water tank towards the front entrance.
This tank is located off of a shallow tributary to Raggedy Creek, which runs
approximately one mile north of the ranch. There is an irrigation well next to
the tank as well, which can be used to pump water into the tank if needed.
Another water well is by the tank too, that keeps additional water in a trough.
The east side of the ranch is terraced and ascends 50' over the course of a 1/4
mile. From the far east side, one can see the whole property. The view stretches
to the west for several miles from here, across a large valley to the bluffs of
the 11,000 acre Sugarloaf Ranch. There are several locations on this side that
would be ideal for building a home. The ranch has access to both city and co-op
water lines.
On the south side is an older set of corrals, with two pens, chutes, and long
metal shed for storing hay. There is also a large fenced off area connected to
the pens, which can be used for a trap when gathering livestock. There is water
ran to the corrals in two places.
The GK Stock Ranch would be an ideal place to develop a horse ranch and would
work well for a small cow/calf or stocker operation too. The property is located
in "big ranch" country in northwest Texas, where 5,000 to 100,000 acre
ranches are common. It is only a few miles outside of the town of Crowell (pop.
1100), which has an excellent school district, several restaurants, and a down
home friendly atmosphere. Other area attractions are the Copper Breaks State
Park and the 3RF Observatory Center. (See more information at www.crowelltex.com.)
